Broadcasters’ development pattern for television drama has not necessarily helped feature film development strategy. Professionals stressed that feature film development has been heavily influenced by European broadcasters; specifically by the commissioning editor model. This model usually takes the following pattern: the idea is normally the writer’s, who is then left alone to write a draft. Minor modifications are then made before the project is shot for TV. The process is very different to fully-fledged feature film development.
